An Author By Any Other Name

In most respects I'm a modest kind of guy, but when it comes to writing I'd be the first to admit that one of the major buzzes to be had out of this business is seeing your book on the shelves at the local bookshop with your name on the cover. And yet here I am, only a few days after announcing the March release of The Shrieking Stones, my little foray into the world of Puffin under the name of Steve Rogers, and it turns out I've been commissioned to produce another pseudonymous work of children's fiction. Can't say anything more about it at this stage, obviously. Different genre, different pseudonym, different everything. But still me in disguise, so to speak. Never mind. As well as being modest I do like to share good news and celebrate, so: yay! :)

Heheh, I think I'd want more money for that. But thanks :)

Is it "girls' stuff"...? A "kissing book"? Congratulations. You are clearly king of the Noms de Plume.
Oh and you know what, from vague talkery today I think there may just be a glimmer of life still in my invisible tomatoes, too (portion of a "woo!").

PS (Look away now Stuart, for you I have detected you share not the loyalty of myself and Simon). Did you catch Jac's piece on girls' comics on Monday? It was in the Daily Express, so obviously I failed to read it, but I thought with living in Cornwall you might know someone who might have.

Ian: "Is it "girls' stuff"...? A "kissing book"?"

It would be giving quite a bit away as to the gender of the target audience if I said no. :)

And, alas, no I didn't read the piece. I did read a paper on Monday, but I tend to just pick up whatever paper happens to be lying around in the cafe I frequent. It's a bit pot luck, current affairs wise. Would it be online d'you think?

And, last but not least, even though you discreetly slipped mention of it in the middle there, woo and indeed hoo! Do hope we get to hear more of those non-tomatoes :)

You are a pair of oddballs - as with the rest of the red-bloode dmales in this country my knowledge of girl's comics begins and ends with the splendid Four Marys in the Bunty, which I read religiously as a small boy (true, that). I have literally no idea what a kissing book is, although it does sound like it oculd be a poor translation of the Japnese word for porn mag.

In any case, I'll add my own tentative woo to Simon's re the possible re-birth of the tomatoey one from the ashes. I may have mentioned before but I thought it quite funny (never did find a copy of the episode I missed though - hurry up with the CD release).

I think Ian's referring to our admiration for Jac Rayner. At least, I hope he is. I know as much about girls' comics as I do about Japanese porn mags. Which, just for clarification, is - at the very most - not much. :)

"kissing book"- probably a completely wrong reference to The Princess Bride.

Jac Rayner has an impressive knowledge of girls comics (credited on that BBC4 Comics Britannia show she was), though on occasion she has needed geeky boys to go- "Oh yes those panels are unmistakably drawn by Jesus Redondo"...

That's where I come in...
